Flat Entity – Leon Blanchard

Flat entity was an experiment using mix media. The study was of a tower block in which I attempted to breath new life through colour. My intention was to paint this tower in a psychedelic manner for the purpose of developing a new style with which to paint in, I then put it within a scene, which would place it out of context giving it a new existence. I felt it did gain a new identity, though not the one I expected. I created an identity which I could not predict when I first started painting, thus why I gave it the title “flat entity”, this was because of comments made by peers, all giving similar views on what they thought the object was. The mediums used are acrylic and permanent marker.
